Environmental & Toxic Torts

When you and your community are over exposed to hazardous chemicals or other substances in the air, water, soil or the surrounding environment you may be able to bring a lawsuit against the responsible corporations, manufacturers or other parties.

Toxic conditions often occur in areas where the land value is relatively low and they are frequently near low value homes. This means low-income residents are often at the greatest risk. They are also the segment of the population least able to fight. For this reason, Schlapprizzi PC works on a contingency fee basis, which means we earn our fees only when we win the case.

Times Beach, a suburban community 17 miles west of St. Louis was contaminated in the early 1970s when waste oil containing dioxin, a component of Agent Orange, was sprayed on roads to keep down dust. Don Schlapprizzi was the lead trial lawyer for the plaintiffs injured by the contamination at Times Beach in the longest civil jury trial in the State of Missouri.

Environmental contaminants may include asbestos, formaldehyde, pesticides, mercury, lead, benzene, Chinese drywall and many other chemicals and products. Conditions manifest as dirty air, contaminated water and soil and chemical contamination via pumping, dumping and spills.

There is a time limit in which a case must be filed making it essential to seek the advice of a lawyer familiar with this type of complex claim.
